After his talk with Xelloss, he got in his big world-hopping bi-plane and started it up. He was glad he had expanded the plane when he finshed fixing it those months ago so that he can pick people up when he needed to.

After a moment, he starts taking off. "World-hop mode, engage."

He puts the destination information into the Miles Electric, which was now attached to the plane and then presses a button next to the computer. A laser shoots out and creates a portal. He flys it into the portal and comes out of it into Xelloss' world.

He looks down as he flys around in the sky, trying to find Xelloss. He hoped it wouldn't take too long to find him.

Rolling hills and forests made up the land where the priest was at. To the north-west was a rocky outcrop, and at a high enough height with particularly clear skies you might even be able to spot Seyruun's capital to the east, with its white walls constructed in the shape of a magic circle. To the south-west was the sea.

As promised, Xelloss was in a small field of flowers lounging on a rock. Perhaps some humans, while breaking from a long journey would sit at this very spot to enjoy their surroundings. He couldn't see the charm in doing so. He wondered what form the young fox's world hop would take.

He sensed a disturbance and looked at it with his mind's eye (quite literally). "Oh," he said, "There it is." He stayed put, smiling up at the heavens.

Tails had to admit the surroundings were beautiful. He had seen many beautiful places around his world, but this was one of the best he's seen yet. He would take a break on that spot if he had to travel by foot.

He spots Xelloss and waves down as he starts coming in for a landing.

The priest raises an arm and waves back. In some respects what he saw resembled a fireworks rocket. He approaches after the plane lands, picking a path through the grass.

Tails would argue about the difference between rockets and airplanes if he knew that. He would normally turn it off, but he's picking Xelloss up, so he simply comes out of the bi-plane. "This place is really beautiful."

"Is it?" he asks, before gaining the air of someone who's already moved on to the next subject. His attention seems more focused on the plane until he's right in front of Tails, where he finally looks down. "Where do I go?"

Tails points to the seat behind the front one. "You can sit in there while I'm in the front with the controls. It should be able to open up so you can get in."

The priest nods ("All right," he says) and makes to climb up while keeping a hold on his staff.

He waits until Xelloss is in, then he gets back inside the cockpit. He presses a few buttons, then the bi-plane starts to lift into the air. He presses another and another portal appears. Tails drives the bi-plane into it and ends up back home.

If Xelloss looks down, he should see Tails' home (http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/433/tailshome.png) on top of the cliff.

The whole experience is rather like being enclosed in a glass bottle. Something about this form of flight was lacking a crucial element... For one thing, when he flew it was possible to stretch out both arms without hitting anything. Well, if it brought him along he supposes it's but a small price to pay. The temporary discomfort, that is... He keenly watches their descent. In a moment it dissolves into (apparent) mild interest. "This is it?"

[ooc: is that from Sonic Adventure DX?]

"Yep. I build this place myself." As they get closer, the palm trees suddenly move to the side, revealing the metal underneath. Shortly after, they land safely and Tails turns off the bi-plane.

(OOC: Yes it is. It was the best screencap I could make. It's an awesome game, and I've beaten it a couple times.)

The priest calmly hops out and takes a few steps towards the sea. He sighs. (In relief? Maybe.)

"Nice view," he comments.

"Thanks. Be careful not to fall off since this is on a cliff," Tails spins his tails to fly over to the house on top of the workshop, and lands on the deck. He lowers the rope ladder attached to the railing so that Xelloss can climb up. "Come on up."

He murmurs his acknowledgement and tests his weight on the ladder. Moments later, he's standing by Tails and righting his clerical staff. What did the small fox have to show him? He hummed for a sec. "Shall we continue our conversation?"

"Sure." He didn't have anything in mind really. Just being a good host that's all.

"You said you specialised in machinery," he mused, "Do you think you could show me what kind?

"I assume that--" He pointed down at where the plane presumably was. "--was one of them?"

From: [identity profile] twotailmechanic.livejournal.com
"Well there are different kinds of machinery, but sure."

He nods. "Yes. It's one of many different types of airplanes, but I built this just for world-hopping."
From: [identity profile] astralwhirlwind.livejournal.com
"Please do."

"Air plane...? It isn't very flat," he observes in apparent bemusement. "Wouldn't that hovering board fit the name better?"

Heh. =3

Date: 2011-10-11 05:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] twotailmechanic.livejournal.com
He shakes his head. "Airplanes were originally modeled after birds, so they aren't meant to be completely flat. Hoverboards are different as they originally started out as sort of a 'magic carpet' that the Babylonians invented thousands of years ago."

"Ah...! The earthbound's fascination with flight." Humans particularly. Their attempts to attain the unobtainable never ceased to be amusing. Oh, they figured out how to cast spells that granted it for a while -- but someday even those might not satisfy them. "Funny how you should mention magic."

Tails blinked in confusion as he wasn't quite sure what Xelloss was getting at. "What about magic that's so funny?"

"Well you see..." He hums for a few seconds, then scratches at his nose. "Nothing much, really." (Lies.) The priest attempts to subtly change the topic. "You called them Babylonians. Technology so old must be fascinating!"

From: [identity profile] twotailmechanic.livejournal.com
"It can be for historical purposes. That's what he called themselves when they were still around. See, according to legend, the Babylonians were a group of thieves that suffered divine punishment for their sins, and their floating island was cast into the sea, and they became scattered throughout the world for all time."

Date: 2011-10-22 08:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] astralwhirlwind.livejournal.com
"Quite the story by the sounds of it. In your world thieves are Babylonians?"

He'll just have a poke around your humble little abode, Tails.

Date: 2011-10-22 09:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] twotailmechanic.livejournal.com
"Ah no, the Babylonians were thieves. Thieves these days can be from anywhere."

Tails would be fine with that.

They spend a few hours in Tails' home. Tails looks over to the window to notice the sun was going down. "It's getting late. Do you want me to drop you off or do you want to spend the night here?"
